Solebury School (New Hope, PA) seeks a qualified, experienced History Teacher to serve as a parental leave replacement for three weeks, from approximately April 17 through May 9. An intentionally small, all-gender, independent day and boarding school for students in grades 9-12, Solebury is nestled on a rolling 140-acre campus in the Pennsylvania countryside. Solebury students and faculty pursue learning as a shared endeavor; this approach to education is a cornerstone of Solebury’s educational philosophy. Successful candidates will be excited to contribute to a school community built upon this principle of mutual respect. 

This is a temporary, full-time position spanning three weeks from April 17-May 9, 2024

Essential Functions 

  • Teach 4 high school history classes in 80 minute blocks, each meeting 2-3 times per week: 3 sections of World History 9 and 1 section of AP World History.

  • Passion for teaching and working with high school students.

Required Qualification
  

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Education, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching high school students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Master’s degree or higher in Special Education, Education, or related field.
  • Boarding and/or independent school experience.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Physical: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, reach for or otherwise move objects, including textbooks and other teaching materials. Sedentary work involves sitting, standing and walking around the classroom.

  • Communication: Activities include both hearing and talking to express or exchange ideas and information.

  • Environmental conditions: Activities occur mostly inside and occasionally outside. 

  • Valid driver’s license required as well as ability to pass a variety of background checks
